Money cannot bring back our loved ones

What follows is the text of a letter from Dr Jim Swire published in the issue of The Herald for Friday, 29 August:

'Money cannot bring back our loved ones In the years following the Lockerbie atrocity Libya found her oil industry progressively crippled by UN (and US) sanctions, which denied her the use of ever more sophisticated western oil-recovery technology.

'Following her agreement to allow her two citizens to appear in front of a Scottish criminal court (at Zeist in Holland), one was found guilty of having carried out the atrocity.

'The terms for withdrawal of the UN sanctions included that Libya acknowledge her guilt and pay "compensation" for the atrocity. The scope for negotiation was clear: meeting the UN requirements would allow Libya's economic recovery, no less. This is now being achieved through a refurbishment of her oilfields with the benefit of western (mainly US) technology.

'In a letter to the UN after the Zeist verdict was passed, Libya's phraseology was that "since a Scottish court had found one of her agents guilty, therefore she would pay compensation''. The terms of the financial "compensation" were negotiated by a team of US lawyers representing most relatives, including myself. The details of these negotiations remain embargoed. The then Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, stressed the negotiations were a legal, not a political, issue. Of course.

'Colonel Gaddafi's talented and artistic son, Saif, now claims the relatives were "greedy". I am glad to see that Libya's economy is recovering, far beyond the value of the "compensation" negotiations and that she is becoming accepted as other than a promoter of terrorism. Both of these facts suggest a diminution of hostility and material gains for both sides.

'I salute Saif and wish him happiness, which I think he is more likely to find in his life, if it is true, as he claims, that he is dropping out of politics. I just wish that the needs of the relatives, namely a thirst for the truth and for justice, would be attended to rather than an alleged hunger for money.

'A trapped man dies of thirst long before he would die of hunger.

'Financial "compensation" must remain in its inverted commas. Money cannot buy our families back.

'But there is some genuine compensation to be had from seeing the healing of the enmity between the West and Libya. I thank Saif for providing the opportunity to say this.

'So far as many relatives I know would say, we would gladly repay any "compensation" money if we could just have our loved ones back.'

  1. How I admire Dr Swire and how much he must have loved his beautiful daughter.

  2. Very little has been said about the suffering of the Libyan people during the years of sanctions. How many died because of lack of medical supplies or hospital equipment? When Abdelbaset Megrahi is cleared what compensation will they be entitled to? Will they too be able to sue the countries that framed their countryman and made their lives so awful?

  3. NEW! NEW!
Sensationally support for the discharge Libya' s in the Lockerbie Tragedy.

The ex FBI Special Agent, FBI chief Investigator of the Lockerbie-Case and ex chief of the Terrorist Research and Anaytical center (TRAC) confirm MEBO's crown defence evidence for Libya!

    In Marquise's new expert book Scotbom: "Evidence and the Lockerbie Investigation", under Chapter 11;
that the Timer-Fragment PT-35 (MST-13) was descended of the first serie of MST-13 timer, designet and built by MEBO Ltd 1985 (prototype).

Important: No prototypes MST-13 timer were supplied to Libya!
So its confirms Edwin Bollier's investigation result, the MST-13 Fragment (PT-35) was not from a "Libya timer"!

    Original excerpt, under Chapter 11:
After Lumpert's statement (ex Engeneer, at MEBO Ltd) was the first witness (1990) and after examining a photograph the PT-35, testified the chip had come from a circuit board for a timer he designed and built in 1985 at the request of Bollier. -----

------He had learned one week prior to the hearing that this timer might have been used in a bomb.

He believed the chip had come from one of the first timers made. He
detailed how he had designed this circuit board, nothing the slight
imperfections on PT-35. once the master board was made, the
imperfections showed up on the other circuit boards from that master.

Why FBI Special Agent Richard Marquise suppress this decisive determining proof from the court in Kamp van Zeist?

I am convinced, its status function in the "Lockerbie Fraud" is unmasked!
The truth at the High Court in Edinburgh will bring it shortly to the day…

Please see to the newest Dokumentar film on BBC:
The Conspiracy Files: Lockerbie will be broadcast on Sunday, 31 August, 2008 at 2100 BST on BBC Two.

    For your information:

Libya and the official Abdelbaset al Megrahi have nothing to do with the Lockerbie-Tragedy.

Edwin and Mahnaz Bollier, MEBO Ltd. give the Crown, Lord Advocate General and the Appeal Court, the full warranty that the manipulated MST-13 timer fragment (PT-35B) does not come from a timer supplied to Libya and therefore cannot be brought in connection with Libya.
LOCKERBIE is the biggest fraud in the history of Scotland!

    Important clearing-up:
Libya did pay the compensation under explicit objection that Libya had absolutely nothing to do with the PanAm 103 Lockerbie-Tragedy and could therefore not be made responsible.

In the world media this objection is never mentioned. This tricky suppression of the whole statement by the world's leading news agencies leads to the generally accepted but nevertheless totally wrong notion: If they paid, they did it.

    Why Libya pays?:
    > Regain full diplomatic and economic status. This would allow oil companies to negotiate hundreds of billions of dollars worth of contracts, to drill the state's oilfields.
US President Bush signed on August 4, 2008 into law: S.3370, the "Libyan Claims Resolution Act."
The bill that grants Libyan immunity law and full diplomatic and economic status.
